It was the experience and expertise of DEKRA that won over the Jalisco authorities, says the state’s Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez. He is certain about one thing: “With DEKRA, we have a strong partner at our side to improve air quality in our state.” The emission inspection stations are being set up in a way that would also allow for periodical vehicle safety inspections in the future.
Periodical technical inspection is becoming mandatory in more and more countries around the world as it makes an important contribution to improving road safety. Authorities in Chile have recognized this and have granted DEKRA several concessions. In the course of 2021, DEKRA will therefore begin vehicle inspections in the South American country. “In Chile, vehicle safety tests are carried out every year – at a level comparable to that in European countries,” explains Bert Zoetbrood.
As the number of vehicles increases across the country, the Chilean authorities are expanding their vehicle monitoring capacities with tenders in various regions. DEKRA has received the first concessions for five test stations in the metropolitan region of the capital, Santiago de Chile, with 7 million inhabitants. “We look forward to making a contribution to road safety in Chile starting early March 2021, and in additional regions later this year. Our goal is to grow DEKRA into one of the leading vehicle inspection companies in Chile,” says Zoetbrood.
